His Majesty King Abdullah II and Canadian Prime Minister Justin Trudeau held talks in the Canadian capital, Ottawa, Friday, on bilateral relations and developments in regional and international affairs.

His Majesty the King and the Canadian Prime Minister praised, during extensive bilateral talks, which took place at the Canadian Parliament, the strength of the strategic relations between the two countries, stressing keenness to strengthen them in the sectors of education, trade, investment, and defense cooperation.

His Majesty expressed his appreciation for the strong friendship between Jordan and Canada, and his pride in the level of bilateral relations, especially the political cooperation to face challenges in the region.

The King praised Canada's support for Jordan in addressing the economic challenges it faced during the past years.

His Majesty drew attention to Canada's important role and its involvement in promoting security and stability in the region.

For his part, Trudeau praised the joint and fruitful efforts between the two countries over the past years, pointing to the opportunities through which bilateral relations can be deepened and strengthened, whether at the level of investment or at the level of relations between the two peoples, which His Majesty the King has always been keen to strengthen.

The Canadian Prime Minister appreciated His Majesty’s leadership role in the region, considering that the talks with a friendly country like Jordan are fruitful for promoting peace and stability in the region and the world.

Trudeau indicated that he discussed with His Majesty the King the complex circumstances that recently surrounded the world, especially after the coronavirus pandemic and the invasion of Ukraine.

The talks were attended by Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Foreign Affairs and Expatriates Ayman Safadi, Director of His Majesty's Office Jaafar Hassan, Jordanian Ambassador to Canada Majed Al-Qatarneh, and a number of Canadian officials.

The governments of Jordan and Canada signed a cooperation agreement in the field of education, according to which Canada will provide a sovereign loan to support the National Education Strategy at a value of 120 million Canadian dollars.
