The Central Traffic Department uploaded a post on Facebook reminding citizens that parking vehicles on sidewalks is a violation of the Jordanian Traffic Law.

The department warned drivers that a JD 20 fine will be imposed on those who park on sidewalks, which could cause traffic accidents resulting in injuries or deaths.

The caption explained that sidewalks were made for pedestrians to protect them from getting run-over by cars, adding that parking vehicles on these sidewalks is an “infringement” on the rights of pedestrians.
