Two teenage girls were reported missing in Pakistan's Karachi last week and were found over 1,200 kilometers away in Lahore, as they planned to travel to South Korea to meet Kpop band BTS, according to a police statement.

The two girls, 13 and 14, had gone missing on Saturday from Korangi in Karachi city and as the police searched their houses, a diary was found that revealed their plan to travel to meet BTS, according to a statement made by Abraiz Ali Abbasi, a senior police superintendent of the area.

“From the diary we saw mentions of train timetables and that they had been planning to run away with another friend of theirs … who we then interviewed,” he said.

“We started tracking them aggressively and found out they were in custody of the police in the city of Lahore where they had traveled by train.”

Abbasi said arrangements were made, in coordination with police in Lahore, for the girls to be taken back home to Karachi.

Lastly, he made an appeal for parents to “please monitor their children’s screen time,” to make them more aware of what their children view online.
