The media spokesperson for the Public Security Directorate (PSD) confirmed Thursday that a person in possession of the 200,000 counterfeit US dollar had been arrested after attempting to sell the cash. He noted that the Criminal Investigation Department’s staff had been following the case for weeks.

The investigation was launched to gather information about a person in Jerash who was suspected of possessing a quantity of counterfeit currency and had attempted to sell it. The aim was to locate and identify the person involved, then seize the cash before it enters the market and starts circulating.

Investigators were able to get the suspect to agree to sell the counterfeit cash to undercover officers. After which they agreed on a time and place in Amman to supposedly complete the transaction. The suspect was arrested and the counterfeit cash was seized.

Investigations are underway.
