The Public Security Directorate (PSD) announced Tuesday the closure of the Desert Highway after rescuing 22 people who were trapped inside a bus that was swept away by floods earlier this afternoon.

The highway was shut down in both directions in Al-Zumaila area.

The PSD urged citizens and residents to avoid this route until further notice. People have also been asked to follow PSD instructions including those imposed by traffic officers.

Regarding the rescue operation, the PSD media spokesperson confirmed that specialized teams were immediately dispatched to the location of the incident and all 22 people are currently in good health condition.
