Sunday, the Greater Amman Municipality (GAM) declared a moderate state of emergency to deal with the expected weather conditions in Jordan.
GAM called on citizens to contact the following numbers (102 or 117180) in case of any note or emergency.
Jordan’s Meteorological Department had warned of the danger of torrential rains on Sunday night and Monday morning.
The department also published a warning map that showed ‘high warnings’ of the formation of torrents in Ma'an Governorate, requiring extreme caution and exceptional measures in preparation for possible torrential rains.
The map also showed ‘medium warnings’ for the formation of torrents in the governorates of Aqaba, Karak and Tafila, also requiring taking the necessary measures.
As for the northern and central governorates, the map showed that there are medium warnings for the formation of torrential rains in these areas noting that “there is a possibility for danger, but the weather will not likely be harsh.”
