Moroccan fans in Casablanca reacted to their national team's WC semi-final loss against France, expressing pride in the Lions of the Atlas.

"It was a big match. We faced the French team which is the reigning world champion, and I wish them the best because I am French and Moroccan. I hope they [Moroccans] win third place despite this defeat which is very hard to accept," a fan said.

Another said, "Today, I wouldn't say it's a defeat. The Moroccans were magnificent in this World Cup. We are proud of them. We can not say that we are disappointed, or else this would mean that we forgot what they had done earlier. Today, they didn’t succeed, but we are proud of them. Frankly, we believed in this final, that's why it hurts us a little but they moved us and made us dream. That’s all we wanted in the end."

France won 2-0 against Morocco in their World Cup Qatar 2022 semi–final match hosted at Al-Bayt Stadium on Wednesday.

France's goals were scored by Theo Hernández and Randal Kolo Muani in the 5th and 79th minutes, respectively.

Morocco had accomplished a historic achievement for the Arab world and Africa, being the first to reach the semi-finals, as it managed to eliminate Canada, Belgium, Portugal and Spain and made its way to the semi-finals without any defeats.

France will now play against Argentina who beat Croatia 3-0 earlier Tuesday.

The final game will be held at Lusail Stadium on Sunday, while the match for the third and fourth places will be held at Khalifa Stadium on Saturday.
