The family of the Jordanian artist Ashraf Telfah revealed shocking details regarding his sudden and obscure death six days after he was found dead in his Cairo apartment.
“[Our son], Ashraf Suleiman Salem Telfah, had taken his last breath after he was assaulted and brutally tortured. Bruises, wounds, and traces of torture were seen on various parts of his body from head to toe,” the family explained in a statement issued Sunday.
The family, in the statement that Roya received a copy of, said that there were traces of torture in various parts of his body from “head to toe.”
His family noted that on Nov. 12, 2022, the medical report issued by the Dream Hospital, where Telfah was admitted, revealed that there were signs of assault on various parts of his body.
“The signs of torture on the body of our son Ashraf are as clear as the sun.”
For their part, the Jordanian relevant authorities said that there are no criminal implications.
In the statement, they also criticized the false information and news circulated by some individuals and media outlets regarding his case.
Some reported that the late artist had a narcotic substance called the Blue Elephant in his possession. The family said that this was aimed at “distracting people from the truth and the real cause of death.”
The family called on the Jordanian government to investigate this case further.
“We call on the government to follow up on the case of our martyred son Ashraf Telfah to find out the real criminals and the motives behind their heinous crime.”
“Bring [those responsible] to justice.”
The statement stressed that despite everything that happened, Jordanian-Egyptian relations will remain strong.
On Nov. 14, 2022, the Jordanian artist Ashraf Telfah died after being brutally assaulted in Egypt.
Notably, details surrounding the artist's death remain obscure.
