Lebanese lawmakers failed Thursday for a sixth time to elect a successor to former president Michel Aoun, whose mandate expired last month, deepening a leadership vacuum in the crisis-hit country.

Once again, blank votes again received the highest count, with 46, while independent MP Michel Moawad received 43.

Lebanese Parliament Speaker Nabih Berri set the seventh presidential session for next Thursday, Nov. 24.
