A Pakistani man was sentenced to 20 years in prison after he strangled his Bangladeshi girlfriend in Jordan after she had threatened him to send their pictures to his brother in Pakistan.

The Grand Criminal Court announced the sentence in a public session, in which the accused was charged with the felony of premeditated murder.

The court also sentenced the man to eight months in prison after also convicting him of the misdemeanor of interfering with the abortion of a woman with her consent.

According to the court, the two had an affair after meeting on TikTok. Once pregnant, the woman aborted the baby with the man’s help.

In April 2020, the woman had secretly taken pictures of the man and threatened to send them to his brother in Pakistan, which caused him to kill her in an abandoned field after he failed to retrieve the pictures from her.

According to reports, after he made sure of her death, he left her lifeless body on the ground and returned to his work.

Months after the murder, the culprit returned to the scene of the crime and found the body in the same place and undiscovered. He then left and returned to his workplace in Zarqa before later moving to Salt for work.

According to the court, the man was surprised when the police arrested him at his workplace in June 2021.
