Psychiatric counselor Walid Sarhan said that the announced statistics on the number of suicide cases are “incomplete,” as some cases are not documented.

Sarhan told Roya that the deterioration of the mental health of Jordanians has become noticeable over the past years, indicating that the insufficiency of government psychological services is one of the reasons for the high rates of depression and addiction.

He stressed that the suicide rates in Jordan are higher than the announced figures.

Sahran pointed out that all countries around the world have economic, social, and political issues, which are not a justification for such actions, pointing out that the highest rates of suicide in the world were recorded in rich countries.

He lastly called for finding a national strategy that includes providing psychological services to Jordanians in a correct manner by the Ministry of Health.
