The Court of Cassation upheld a decision issued by the Grand Criminal Court to sentence a woman to 15 years in prison for killing her daughter, who got pregnant outside of wedlock.

The mother killed her daughter by wrapping a wire around the victim's neck and stabbing her in the chest and abdomen areas.

In June 2020, the Grand Criminal Court replaced her initial sentence which was hanging to death with temporary imprisonment for 15 years after the legal heirs waived their right against the culprit.

It was revealed that the mother had planned to kill her daughter in several scenarios and she ended up stabbing her inside an apartment that she rented solely to murder her in.

According to the court, the culprit planned to open a gas cylinder while her daughter was sleeping, or to kill her with poison, until she finally decided to kill her with a knife. She also sent her children to their grandparents’ house to carry out the crime.

The culprit confessed that she lured the victim to a governorate in the north on the pretext of taking her to the doctor and buying new clothes for her. While they were both inside the rented apartment, the mother told her daughter to take a shower and when the victim turned her back to her, the culprit wrapped an electric wire around her neck before stabbing her 12 times in the chest and the abdomen, leading to her death and the death of her fetus.
