A Brazilian woman, 19, gave birth to twins from different fathers after having sexual intercourse with two men on the same day.

The woman, who is from Minerios in Goias, Brazil, explained that she took a paternity test as she wanted to confirm who the father was.

According to her, she decided to take the test after eight months of doubts about who the father was.

She took DNA from the person who she thought was the father. However, after several tests, the results only came back positive for one of the twins.

Following that, she told the second man to take the test and it showed he was the second twin's father.

Such cases are extremely rare. This phenomenon is scientifically called heteropaternal superfecundation.

Notably, heteropaternal superfecundation happens when a second ova released during the same menstrual cycle is additionally fertilized by the sperm cells of a different man in separate sexual intercourse.
