Social distancing between students in schools was reduced to 70cm, the Ministry of Education announced Tuesday. This came, according to the ministry, to resume in-person learning without posing any risk to students and staff.

In an interview with Roya’s Nabd Al Balad, the Secretary-General of the Ministry of Education for Administrative and Financial Affairs Najwa Qubeilat confirmed that in case a student gets infected with the coronavirus, the student will switch to online learning for a period of five days starting from the date they take the PCR test.

As for students who suffer from weak immune systems, Qubeilat stressed that it is “unacceptable not to attend the school campus.”

Jordan recorded 10 deaths and 4,832 new coronavirus cases in one week (from Aug. 13 until Aug. 19), according to the weekly COVID-19 statistical report issued by the Ministry of Health every Sunday.

The total death toll reached 14,105.
