Roya’s correspondent said that the man who took hostages in a bank in Beirut’s Lebanon surrendered to the authorities after agreeing to give him part of his savings.

The reporter added that the amount that the negotiations were based on is USD 35,000 out of his savings of USD 209,000.

Earlier on Thursday, a customer armed with a rifle and threatening to set himself ablaze held bank workers hostage Thursday in Lebanon's capital, demanding to withdraw his trapped savings to pay hospital fees, security sources and a family member said.

He demanded more than $200,000 of his savings, a security source said.
