Friday, the Chinese Foreign Ministry announced that it has imposed sanctions on US House Speaker Nancy Pelosi, in response to her visit to Taiwan.

The ministry said the House Speaker was "seriously interfering in China's internal affairs and seriously undermining China's sovereignty and territorial integrity" when she visited Taiwan, and in response, Beijing would "impose sanctions on Pelosi and her immediate family", but no further details were given.
