Tuesday, a doctor was detained after he removed a healthy kidney instead of a damaged one, for a patient who underwent surgery, at Zarqa Governmental Hospital.

A source who preferred to remain anonymous, said that the public prosecutor assigned the doctor the felony of cutting and removing an organ, and decided to detain him for 15 days pending investigation, while he decided to leave two doctors without arrest.

The source said that the doctors who supervised the patient’s operation discovered their medical error an hour after the surgery had ended.

The patient is in critical condition, as she is currently living with one damaged kidney.
