Sudan recorded the first case of monkeypox on Sunday, reported the country’s ministry of health.

Sudan’s announcement comes after the World Health Organization declared monkeypox a global health emergency, which is the highest level of alert, in an attempt to contain the outbreak of the disease that has infected thousands of people in over 75 countries so far.
