A mother was charged with murder after choking her two children, six and eight years old, to death in Sahab, Amman.

The Public Prosecutor decided to detain the mother for 15 days, subject to renewal, in a correctional and rehabilitation center until she appears before a judge.

The mother confessed that she killed them because she wanted them ‘to be rid of her,’ a source close to the investigation, who preferred to remain anonymous, said.

The source added that the mother, after committing the crime, called 911 and turned herself in.

The source noted that the mother does not suffer from any mental illness.

Investigations are still ongoing.
