A member of the National Committee for Epidemics Bassam Hijjawi told Roya’s Nabd Al Balad Monday that there has been a noticeable increase in the number of coronavirus infections in Jordan during the past six weeks.

Hijjawi indicated that Jordan may have entered a new coronavirus wave. He considered that the increase in the number of COVID-19 infections could indicate that Jordan has entered a new wave of the virus, but compared to previous waves, the epidemiological situation is stable and the wave will end in mid-July this year.

Hijjawi said that the increase came from the failure to take preventive safety measures, and the lack of demand for vaccinations.

He added that 25 percent of the elderly have not received any dose of the coronavirus vaccines yet.
