A source in the Directorate of Civil Defense said that a young man, in his thirties, died in a traffic accident, Saturday, after a vehicle overturned on the Deir Abi Said-Samoua road, in the Koura district, west of Irbid.

The source added that the ambulance and rescue cadres dealt with the accident and provided first aid to the young man before he was transferred to the hospital, but he died of his injuries.

In a separate context, a 16-year-old boy died earlier Saturday, drowning in the waters of the King Abdullah Canal in the Manshiya region of the Northern Jordan Valley.

The director of Moaz bin Jabal Hospital, Dr. Ihsan Matalqa, said that the boy was rescued by civil defense cadres after he was pulled out of the canal water to the emergency department, and the medical staff made every effort to try to revive him, but he died before arriving at the hospital.

He added that the body was transferred to the Forensic Medical Center of the Northern Region to determine the cause of death.
