Monday, one person died and six others were injured after a building under construction collapsed in the Yasmeen area in the capital, Amman, according to a security source.

The source said that civil defense personnel retrieved the body from under the rubble, while the injuries were transferred to a private hospital nearby.

The source added that the injuries occurred among construction workers at the site.

Later Monday, the media spokesperson for the Public Security Directorate issued a statement saying that the specialized teams working in the Central Amman Civil Defense Directorate, along with the support of the East Amman Civil Defense Directorate, the Jordanian International Search and Rescue Team, and the Central Amman Police Directorate dealt with the collapse of part of the roof of a storey under construction in the Al-Yasmeen area.

The statement said that it resulted in the death of a person of Arab nationality and the injury of six others (all of Arab nationalities) with various fractures, wounds and bruises in the body, and among the injured was a person trapped under cement.
