A source in the General Command of the Jordanian Armed Forces said that the eastern military region carried out an operation on one of its fronts at dawn today, Sunday, which resulted in the killing of four smugglers and the injury of others, while the remaining fled back into Syria.

The source explained that the Border Guard forces, in coordination with the security services and the Drug Control Department, spotted a group of people coming from Syrian territory to Jordanian territory, and they tried to cross the border illegally with the support of armed groups.

The source indicated that cannabis, over 600,000 Captagon pills, nearly 40,000 Tramadol pills and a Kalashnikov rifle were found which were all taken to the competent authorities.

Notably, the armed forces, since the beginning of 2022, have thwarted many infiltration and smuggling attempts, and contributed to limiting the entry of narcotic substances into Jordanian territory.
