MoE , KEPCO launch Smart Government Schools Project

Wednesday, the Ministry of Education and Korea Electric Power Corporation (KEPCO) signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) to support a number of public schools in the field of education and information technology “Smart Government Schools Project.”

The MOU was signed by his excellency the Minister of Education, Dr. Wajih Owais, on behalf of the Ministry, and by the Executive Vice President, Mr. Seo, Guen Bae, on behalf of KEPCO, in the presence of the Secretary-General of the Ministry for Educational Affairs, Dr. Nawaf Al-Ajarmeh, a number of educational officials and the Chief Executive Officers of KEPCO’s subsidiary companies in Jordan.

The MOU aims to build a relationship of cooperation between the two Parties to develop the educational technology process in government schools in Jordan through the establishment of an educational technology support program (Smart Government Schools Program Project), which will be implemented through the implementing companies Qatrana Electric Power Company (“QEPCO”), Amman Asia Electric Power Company (“AAEPC”) and Fujeij Wind Power Company PSC (“FWPC”), as executing companies for the project to support government schools adjacent to their projects as part of their social responsibility, in coordination with the Ministry of Education.

Subsequently, agreements will be signed to implement three projects, the first in the Qatrana area,the second in Zarqa and Irbid, and the third Husseiniya and Qadisiyah in the Ma’an governorate, in coordination between the two Parties.

Under this MOU, the scope of implementation of the project of the Smart Government Schools Program will be determined in the form of donating computers to information technology laboratories in relevant government schools, e-learning programs, software necessary for educational technologies, sharing with the Second Party the lessons learned and experiences in South Korean government schools and smart schools other as to be agreed upon between the two Parties.

During the signing of the MOU, Dr. Owais indicated the Ministry’s keenness to invest in various means to provide the appropriate educational environment in our schools, pointing to the importance of activating partnerships to support its plans in this field. His excellency further expressed his thanks to Korea Electric Power Corporation for its support of the Ministry in its development programs, referring to the many educational programs that the Korean Government contributes to support in Jordan, especially e-learning and vocational and technical education.

In turn, the Executive Vice President of KEPCO, Mr. Seo Guen Bae, expressed his happiness to participate through these projects in supporting the local communities in the companies’ locations, based on their social responsibility, which is a priority of its interests, stressing the continuation of contributing to the support of local communities in the future, which stems from the strong relations between the two friendly countries.
