Ukrainian PM calls for more action, money as he visits Congress

Speaker of the US House of Representatives Nancy Pelosi welcomed Ukrainian Prime Minister Denys Shmyhal to Congress, AFP reported Thursday.

During his visit, Shmyhal called for "secondary sanctions" and said his country needs more money for refugees and demining activities, while Pelosi hails President Biden for being a "unifier."

Earlier Thursday, US President Joe Biden announced a new package of $800 million in military aid for Ukraine, saying it would help Kyiv's forces in the fight against Russians forces in the Donbas region, AFP reported.

"This package includes heavy artillery weapons, dozens of howitzers, and 144,000 rounds of ammunition to go with those howitzers. It also includes more tactical drones," Biden said.
