Thursday, Minister of Foreign Affairs and Expatriates, Ayman Safadi, affirmed that Islamic and Christian holy sites in Jerusalem are ‘above politics’, and that no attacks on Al-Aqsa Mosque can be accepted.

This came in a press conference after an emergency meeting the Arab Ministerial Committee in charge of international action to confront illegal Israeli Occupation policies and procedures in the occupied city of Jerusalem had.

Safadi said, during the conference, that the committee's meeting confirmed that the identity of holy sites in Jerusalem cannot be tampered with.

He pointed out that everyone has made intense efforts in the past few days to restore peace in Jerusalem, stressing that the demands are clear.

The demands are for Israeli Occupation to stop their attacks and to change things back to 2000 years ago when the Mughrabi Gate was closed to help restore calm.

For his part, Palestinian Foreign Minister Riyad al-Maliki said that Tel Aviv violates Palestinians’ right to access the holy sites, noting that the Israeli Occupation's attacks extend to all of occupied Palestine, not only in Jerusalem.

Maliki stressed that performing Talmudic prayers inside Al-Aqsa Mosque is unacceptable, and that everyone should pressure the international community for Tel Aviv to abide by international law.
