Saturday, the Saudi Ministry of Interior announced the execution of 81 detainees in connection with terrorism-related cases.

The ministry said in a statement published by the official news agency SPA that the convicts were proven to be involved in terrorist cases, and they belong to terrorist organizations such as "Al-Qaeda," "ISIS" and "Houthis" in Yemen.

The majority of those executed held Saudi citizenship, while others were from Yemen, in addition to one Syrian.

This is the largest execution carried out by Saudi Arabia at once in years. In 2016, it executed 47 people, most notably the Shiite cleric Nimr al-Nimr.
