The Jordan Media Commission (JMC) authorized the screening of the "Death on the Nile" film after deleting a homosexual scene from it, according to the Commission’s director, Tariq Abu Al-Ragheb.

Abu Al-Ragheb indicated that the film does not violate the commission’s work legislation. The commission is the regulatory body that gives approvals for screening different content so long as it does not offend or insult any religious or Arab issues, including the Palestinian cause, or show pornographic scenes, according to Abu Al-Ragheb.

He said that the film was authorized to be screened in cinemas in Jordan 14 days ago.

Abu Al-Ragheb clarified that it is not possible to link any work to the nationality of the actors participating in it, the religion to which it belongs, or even the policy it adopts.

In reference to the calls being made by some people to ban the film from being shown in cinemas, Abu Al-Ragheb noted that a total of four films for the actress, Gal Gadot, who holds the Israeli Occupation citizenship, were shown in Jordanian cinemas, and yet, what is happening now, did not happen with her other films.

He noted that the film is not political, but rather tells a detective story, and is based on one of Agatha Christie’s novels.

Notably, last week, Lebanon and Kuwait banned the film from cinemas due to the nationality of Gal Gadot, according to reports.
