The Petra Development & Tourism Region Authority and the Golden Eagle Aviation Academy concluded an agreement in Amman that aims to provide a flying taxi service by operating vertical flights and flying Petra visitors over the area surrounding the archeological park.

The agreement was signed on behalf of the Authority by the Chairman of the Board of Commissioners, Dr. Suleiman Al-Farajat, and on behalf of the Academy by its CEO, retired pilot Major General Muhammad Al-Omari.

Farajat said that the signing of the agreement is a continuation of the authority's approach to developing and diversifying the services provided to tourists in Petra, noting that the "flying taxi" service is a qualitative addition that helps attract visitors and prolong their stay in Petra.

He stressed that the flight will be on the outskirts of the archeological park and at safe heights far from the main visitors' path, noting that this experience is already used in many World Heritage sites.

Omari noted that the Golden Eagle Aviation Academy took the initiative to provide "flying taxi" services according to international standards using modern aircraft, indicating that this experience will be unique for those who wish to enjoy the miracle of Petra.

According to the concluded agreement, the "flying taxi" service will only be during the daytime and the visitor must have an entry ticket to the archeological site, in addition to the fact the taxi will be flying on heights and paths determined by the authority.

The two parties discussed the possibility of running a regular line to serve private trips in the near future, while the Academy provides on-demand trips from Amman and Aqaba to Petra.
