Authorities in Mafraq launched a campaign to backfill abandoned wells and pits, which pose a threat to public safety. The campaign started from the Sarhan district.

Mafraq Governor Salman Al-Njada told Roya that the campaign comes under the directives of the Minister of Interior for reasons related to preserving the health and safety of citizens.

Njada pointed out that they have already backfilled around 30 wells.

He stressed that the campaign will continue until this problem is resolved.
