The hashtag ‘#Save_Sheikh_Jarrah’ topped the list of trending hashtags on Twitter in Jordan on Monday.

This came following the acts of aggression carried out by the Israeli Occupation towards Palestinian residents in the neighborhood.

The Palestinian activist, Mohammed El-Kurd, tweeted, "The residents of Sheikh Jarrah are confronting an intensifying, coordinated effort of settler and police violence in the past hours. An Israeli politician set up his “office,” in the Salem family’s front yard. The family faces imminent homelessness come March."

A social media user also wrote on Twitter, "Imagine someone just coming to your house and deciding that this is where their office needs to be and violently attacking you if you have a problem with it. That’s what Israeli settlers are doing in Palestine every day."

"To be arrested for defending your house & family.. Happens only in Palestine," another wrote.

Earlier Monday, Jordan’s Ministry of Foreign Affairs and Expatriates condemned the provocative practices carried out by Israeli Occupation settlers in the Sheikh Jarrah neighborhood in occupied East Jerusalem.

In a statement, the official spokesperson for the ministry Haitham Abu Al-Foul confirmed that displacing the residents of Sheikh Jarrah neighborhood in occupied East Jerusalem is a violation of international law and international humanitarian law.

On Sunday, a group of settlers attacked the residents of the Sheikh Jarrah neighborhood, activists and journalists while they were near their homes.

Clashes also erupted Saturday night as the settlers gathered near the house of the Salim family in the neighborhood and then attacked the citizens with stones and pepper spray, and the Israeli Occupation Forces (IOF), in turn, fired sound bombs at the citizens instead of arresting the settlers.

Palestinians had suffered burns in the face and neck, and were suffocated after being sprayed with pepper spray at a close distance. One of the citizens was hospitalized, while first aid was given to others.
