Saturday, Gaza's Ministry of Health with support from the UAE opened its largest field hospital for COVID-19 patients in the Strip.

The hospital has 218 beds, 56 of which have been allocated to deal with critical and serious cases, while the red of the beds will be for less severe cases, in addition to two beds for patients with kidney failure, Yousef Abu Al-Rish, Undersecretary of the Ministry of Health in Gaza told AFP.

"This field hospital is the largest in Palestine with these services and the distinctive services and equipment it provides," he added.

"It took fourth months to build the hospital, and we brought in all the equipment through trucks that came from the Jordanian side, then through the Sinai, then the Rafah crossing until it reached this area."

Since the beginning of the coronavirus pandemic, Palestine has confirmed 553,373 cases and 4,996 deaths.
