The head of the Health Committee at the National Center for Human Rights Ibrahim Bdour said Tuesday that hospital admission rates during the current wave are low, reaching only one percent.

Bdour added that most of the cases who are being hospitalized did not receive the coronavirus vaccine or only received a single dose.

He said the actual number of coronavirus infections recorded is much higher than what the government reveals daily, noting that 65 percent of infections show no symptoms, and a large percentage of infected people have mild symptoms and do not take a PCR test.

Bdour lastly demanded that tests be limited to people who show symptoms.

Monday, a member of the National Committee for Epidemics Najwa Khoury said that the committee recommended reducing the period of home isolation for COVID-19 patients in Jordan to become five days for those who do not show coronavirus symptoms, and seven days for those who show symptoms.

She confirmed to Roya that most of the cases recorded in Jordan recently are with Omicron, and a small number of infections are from the Delta variant.

Notably, Jordan reduced the period of home isolation for COVID-19 patients in January 2022. Those who get infected with the virus must isolate themselves for seven days if they do not show coronavirus symptoms, and 10 days if they show symptoms.
