The Ministry of Foreign Affairs and Expatriates expressed its sincere condolences and sincere sympathy to the Kingdom of Morocco on the death of the child Rayan, who passed away on Saturday after falling into a well in the Chefchaouen province.

In a statement, the ministry expressed the Kingdom's sympathy with the people in the Kingdom of Morocco and the families of the late child Rayan.

A royal statement confirmed the death of the child Rayan soon after his removal from the well.

His condition was unknown until an official statement confirmed his death.

Rescue workers had earlier extracted Rayan after a medical team had been examining him inside the deep well.

According to Moroccan media outlets, a regional hospital in Tetouan has been prepped for the transfer. An ambulance and a helicopter were on standby at the scene.

The excavation operation to rescue Rayan reached a "very delicate" stage earlier Saturday, an official said.
