Thursday, Consultant of Respiratory and Critical Care Medicine, Dr. Muhammad Al-Tarawneh, said that the fourth wave of COVID-19 may last until the Holy month of Ramadan.

Tarawneh told Roya that “the danger lies” in the emergence of the hidden mutants of Omicron, BA.2 and BA.3, and the infection of people who are vaccinated as well as those who were previously infected.

He added that the management of the health situation by people who have nothing to do with COVID and who do not listen to scientific opinions, exacerbates the epidemiological situation and disrupts political life by not holding Parliament and Cabinet sessions.

Tarawneh expressed his fear that economic and health facilities will be disrupted if the fourth wave continues.

He indicated that the peak of the current wave may last for a long time due to the rapid spread of Omicron and the resulting mutants.

Tarawneh also believes that the number of infections may exceed 20,000, and the percentage of positive tests may reach 30 percent, noting that hospital admissions have reached 1,000 cases, according to the Ministry of Health figures, and the number of active cases have reached 100,000, which is a real crisis, according to Tarawneh.
