The Grand Criminal Court in Irbid issued a decision Tuesday to sentence a man in his twenties to 12 years in prison with temporary labor for sexually assaulting a three-year-old child in a home nursery run by the perpetrator's mother.

In details, the father and mother put their child in a nursery which is located in a house run by a woman in Irbid. The woman takes care of the children of employees when they are at work.

On the date of the incident, the complainant brought his son to the house of the mother of the perpetrator, which is the nursery, and then went to work. The perpetrator’s mother then had to leave the house for a particular circumstance, and left the accused alone in the house with the victim.

The accused took advantage of that and sexually assaulted the child.

After the father took his child from the nursery, the three-year-old told the father what happened. The father immediately took the case to the court to start legal proceedings against the perpetrator.

The court found that the acts committed by the accused constitute all the elements of the offense of indecent assault, in violation of the provisions of Article 299 of the Penal Code and sentenced him to 12 years in prison with temporary labor.

The ruling was announced during a public session held under the chairmanship of Judge Ali Obeidat and the membership of judges Malik Al-Hammouri and Osama Suleiman, and in the presence of the Public Prosecutor of the Grand Criminal Court.
