Mohammed Hassan Al-Tarawneh, an expert in chest diseases and critical care, said that Jordan is still at the beginning of the fourth COVID-19 wave and has not reached its peak yet.

He said that the number of daily coronavirus cases in Jordan could reach 20,000, and the PCR positivity rates to over 30 percent.

Tarawneh indicated that the actual number of COVID-19 infections is much higher than the announced.

He stressed the need not to underestimate the danger of the Omicron variant, calling on the government to tighten its control within the framework of defense orders, especially since 85 percent of infections do not show symptoms.

Monday, Jordan recorded 15 deaths and 11,478 new coronavirus cases Monday, bringing the total number of cases since the beginning of the crisis to 1,152,526.

The daily positive PCR test rate reached 22.98 percent on Monday.
