Sunday, the Minister of Health, Firas Hawwari, tested positive for COVID-19, according to a statement issued by the Secretary-General of Essential Health Care at the Ministry, Dr. Raed Shboul.

Shboul confirmed in an exclusive statement to Roya, that the periodic testing carried out by the ministry for its employees showed that the Minister of Health, Dr. Firas Hawwari, was infected with the coronavirus.

The minister did not exhibit any symptoms, according to Shboul.

He stressed that the ministry, out of transparency, announced the minister's infection, stressing that Hawwari will, during the coming period, carry out his work remotely.

Shboul wished a speedy recovery to Hawwari.
