Tuesday, a member of the National Committee for Epidemics, Muhannad Nsour, said that the committee discussed Monday with the Ministry of Education, in the presence of the Minister, Wajih Owais, the options available for the resumption of the second semester.

In an exclusive statement to Roya, Nsour confirmed that the committee agreed to the recommendation of the Planning Committee in the Ministry of Education, which states that the start of the second semester in schools should be postponed until Feb. 20.

He pointed out that the committee's recommendation was submitted to the Minister of Health, who in turn will present it to the Higher Framework Committee headed by Prime Minister Bisher Khasawneh for approval.

Nsour explained that in light of the current epidemiological situation and the high number of COVID-19 infections in Jordan, it is difficult to return to schools, in order to preserve the safety of students and educational staff.

Earlier Tuesday, Minister of Education, Wajih Owais, said that all options are on the table regarding the date for the resumption of the second semester for school students.

Owais, however, confirmed to Royya that no decision has been issued yet regarding the second semester.
