Sunday, a cardiovascular specialist Wael Al-Hussami said that the Omicron variant is spreading more rapidly and “much faster than we expected.”

Hussami told Roya’s Akhbar Al Sabe’a that Omicron infection rates in the United States are 30 times greater than other variants.

He explained that 50 percent of those infected with the Omicron variant do not show symptoms, especially those who have received two doses of the COVID-19 vaccine, in addition to the booster dose.

However, Hussami said that what makes the Omicron variant easier to manage is the low hospital admission rates in comparison to the Delta variant.

Hussami also spoke about the coronavirus situation in the Kingdom, pointing out that after the reopening of schools and sectors, the total number of COVID-19 infections in Jordan is expected to reach more than two million.
