Member of the National Committee for Combating Epidemics and Communicable Diseases, Dr. Bassam Hijjawi, said Friday that Omicron infections now constitute 40 percent of all coronavirus infections in Jordan.

Hijjawi added that the Omicron mutant has proven to be the fastest spreading, but the symptoms of infection  are considered mild compared to other mutants.

He pointed out that the government resorted to administering third doses to increase community immunity and limit the spread of the virus during the third and fourth wave.

This came after the Ministry of Health issued a decision regarding reducing the period of isolation for Corona patients, as of Thursday.

A source in the Ministry of Health told Roya that according to the decision, the period of isolation for patients without symptoms has become 7 days, and 10 days for patients with symptoms (specifically high temperature), and that the last 24 hours will be without symptoms.
