The government is closely following up on the conditions of the Jordanians living or studying in the protest-hit Kazakhstan, officials at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs confirmed.

In a virtual meeting held late Sunday with the relevant governmental institutions, the Ministry's Secretary General Yousef Bataineh delivered a briefing on the unrest in Kazakhstan, pointing to the country's map and the universities where most Jordanian students are enrolled.

Bataineh indicated that a 24/7 crisis response cell has been formed to closely look into the conditions of Jordanian citizens, and provide the needed help until tensions are eased in the Central Asian country.

For his part, Jordan's Ambassador to Kazakhstan Yousef Abdul Ghani highlighted the ministry's measures to support and stay in direct contact with the Jordanian expatriates on a daily basis, despite the prevailing circumstances.
