Sunday, MP Ahmed Qatawneh said that the “all forms of violence and discrimination” part of Article 2, Paragraph 6, Item VI referred to in the draft amendment to the Jordanian Constitution for the year 2021, which reads: “The state guarantees the empowerment of women and their support to play an active role in building society in a manner that guarantees equal opportunities on the basis of justice, fairness, and protection from all forms of violence and discrimination,” is a loose term.

Qatawneh demanded, during the evening session held today, that the original text of the article be retained.

Qatawneh wondered, "If a girl desired to leave her family's house and was forbidden to do so, a form of violence?"
