Thursday, the Minister of State for Media Affairs, the official spokesperson for the government, Faisal Shboul, confirmed that the government has taken strict measures to monitor the celebrations and gatherings that coincide with the beginning of the new year, in light of the rapid global spread of Omicron, according to Jordan News Agency.

He also said that these procedures include making sure that two doses of the COVID vaccine have been received, with less than six months having passed since receiving the second dose, in addition to providing a negative PCR test conducted 48 hours prior to entering the sites of celebrations and gatherings.

Shboul added that in light of the strict measures taken to limit the spread of the virus, a representative from the Ministry of Interior will be assigned to each facility in which a celebration is held, whether in hotels or tourist resorts, in addition to following up on any gatherings in private farms In order to ensure compliance with the conditions needed to enter these facilities.

These measures aim to protect citizens and ensure their safety in light of the global health developments, Shboul added.

He also referred to the government procedures that will start at the beginning of the new year, related to the implementation of Defense Order No. 35, which prohibits employees in private and public sectors from entering facilities until both doses of the vaccine are received.

In addition to not allowing anyone over the age of 18 to visit any ministry, government institutions or access to any of the private sector establishments unless both doses of the vaccine are received, except for the cases stipulated in the defense order and specified by the Minister of Health or his authorized representative.

In regards to the epidemiological situation in the Kingdom, Shboul explained that the government is closely monitoring all developments related to the spread of the Omicron variant.
