Wednesday, the Tadamon (Sisterhood is Global Institute Jordan - SIGI) welcomed a decision regarding the establishment of a national observatory for crimes of violence against women and girls in Jordan, which was announced by the Director of the Family Protection and Juveniles Department, Firas Al-Rasheed.

Tadamon indicated in a statement which Roya received a copy of, that this decision is a response to their demands as they previously called for the establishment of a national observatory for cases of killing women and girls in the Kingdom.

This move aims to develop accurate and effective strategies to prevent and/or reduce these crimes, by collecting data related to these crimes, their perpetrators, their causes and motives, the relationship of the perpetrators with the victims, their nationalities, the regions and places the crimes take place at, the judicial rulings issued against the perpetrators, tracking their cases in rehabilitation centers, and uncovering crimes committed against women and girls that are hidden under various pretexts, such as suicide.

Tadamon noted that since the beginning of 2021, a total of 16 women were killed in Jordan.
