COVID-19 situation in schools ‘reassuring’: Masaafa

Director of Public Education and Media Spokesperson for the Ministry of Education, Ahmed Masaafa, said that the student who tests positive for the coronavirus during the final exams period, will take the exam at the beginning of the second semester.

Masaafa told Roya Sunday that in case a number of COVID-19 infections were recorded among students in one class, the whole class will take exams at the beginning of the second semester.

He noted that the percentage of active cases among administrative staff, teachers and students reached around eight to nine per thousand, pointing out that the epidemiological situation in schools is ‘reassuring.’

Masaafa lastly said that the number of schools that have switched to distance learning are about four to five schools.

Last week, he confirmed that in-person education will continue in Jordan.

He pointed out that there is a noticeable increase in coronavirus cases among school students, stressing that the epidemiological situation in schools is under control but calls for more commitment.
