Emergency plan prepared to deal with surge in COVID-19 infections: Hijjawi

Wednesday, a member of the National Epidemics Committee Bassam Hijjawi spoke about the plan prepared by the Ministry of Health to deal with the recent significant increase in the number of coronavirus infections in Jordan.

Hijjawi told Roya that the emergency plan comes following the surge in the number of COVID-19 cases, occupancy rates in hospitals which treat coronavirus patients, active cases, and the health system in general.

He stressed that the plan has several scenarios, especially that the upcoming weeks will be the peak of the third wave, in which occupancy rates in hospitals are likely to rise.

Hijjawi indicated that the plan aims to ensure the readiness of public hospitals, field hospitals and the extent of the need to use private hospitals as well.
