Thursday, Jordan received 500,000 doses of the Chinese COVID-19 vaccine, Sinopharm, as a donation from China.

Minister of Health, Feras Hawari, said during the ceremony of receiving the donation, in the presence of the Chinese Ambassador in Amman Chen Chuandong, that this initiative reflects the strength of the historical friendship and strategic partnership between Jordan and China in all fields.

He added that this donation will contribute to supporting the national campaign for vaccination against the coronavirus, through which the Ministry of Health aims to give the vaccine to citizens, residents and refugees.

Hawari thanked the Chinese ambassador for the generous donation by the Chinese government and the support provided to Jordan in various fields, specifically in the fight against the coronavirus pandemic.

In turn, Chuandong said "Our cooperation in combating the coronavirus pandemic reflects the deep friendship between the two countries.”

He said that many Jordanians have been vaccinated with the Sinopharm vaccine, which is considered a vote of confidence in Chinese vaccines, praising the Kingdom's achievements in controlling the pandemic.

He added that Jordan is witnessing progress in its battle against the pandemic, under the directives of His Majesty King Abdullah II, and through the concerted efforts of all segments of society.

He said that the epidemiological situation in Jordan is under control, the economic recovery is on the right track, and society is gradually returning to normal.
