Qatar announced Thursday that all expatriates will be required to have health insurance before entering the country. 

The health insurance must entitle them to basic health care services through providers available in Qatar, whether in government facilities or the private sector. 

The ministry explained that the provisions of the new law- which applies to both tourists and residents- obligate the employer to provide health insurance for all non-Qatari workers through insurance companies registered with the Ministry of Public Health.
