Monday, the Ministry of Health revealed that three sources of contamination were detected in the village of Jubbah in Jerash where the poisoning cases first emerged.

The contamination was detected on samples taken from the Zarqa River, a private swimming pool and a school’s water tank.

The ministry said in a statement that all three sources were closed, and more tests will be conducted on other potential sources of infection in cooperation with the ministry's strategic partners in the field.

The statement noted that the results of the preliminary examinations that were conducted on other samples of water taken from a town in Ajloun showed contamination in some of the private water desalination plants, which had already been closed as a precautionary measure.

The total number of registered cases suspected of poisoning rose to 81 in Jerash.
